It might be surprising, but I came to know about the online dating sites from my teenage son, Joy. No, Joy is not old enough to try online dating, he is only 12. He got the idea from his best friend whose elder sister is a regular to these online dating sites. You must be wondering why a boy would suggest his mum to try these online dating sites. Well its coz I am a single mother. After a bitter relationship, I was left alone with Joy. Joy brought me the whole world of happiness. I was too busy looking after him to think about anything else. I was happy coz taking his care took most of my time and I could also forget my loneliness in that pretext. But as Joy started growing up, he got busy with his school, friends, dance classes, Karate class and what not. So of late I was starting to realize the void that was always there in my life. Void for someone close to me, void for love, for companionship. After all, at 33 I guess I am not too old to feel in that way.

But I had no clue Joy with his tiny mind would notice all this. When last weekend over dinner, he popped up the question like Mum, why you never got married? , I was surprised. I smiled and replied, May be I didn't find a nice guy to get married. Upon which Joy simply said, I guess it's not that tough if you fall in love first and then get married.  It's kinda awkward for me, so I tried to change the topic, but he kept on persisting. Then he told me the idea of online dating sites which he got from his best friend who always complains how his elder sister constantly glued to the computer and won't let him play video games even. My first reaction is oh my god, how much today's kids know. While leaving for his skating class, Joy reminded me once again to try the online dating sites, I knew my son has finally grown up!

You can say Joy kinda pushed me to try these online dating sites. So that night I searched for a couple of online dating sites. At first I thought I would just have a look around and would tell Joy the next day that I didn't find interesting there. But when I browsed a couple of prominent online dating sites, I couldn't help getting fantasized about dating some hot profiles in these online dating sites. After spending some time on these online dating sites, I decided to give it a try. Also as many of these online dating sites are free, I won't have to give a single penny for this online dating thing.

I created my profile on a top free online dating site and joined the chat room. Must say the atmosphere in the online dating site chat room reminded me of my dating days in college. It's been a month and now my days wouldn't be complete without chatting on the online dating site. Today life seems promising and it's all because of these online dating sites. Like Joy said, who knows someday I might find someone really interesting to fall in love with!
